Williamsburg Virginia

Williamsburg is a world-class travel destination with much to offer. Recently rated by Money Magazine(Article) as one of the top five places to retire, residents take pleasure from a pleasant four season climate. There are mild winters, flower filled springs, warm summer nights, and stunningly colorful autumns. State-of-the-art medical care is available from five hospitals serving the Williamsburg area, including the new Williamsburg Regional Medical Center that is only minutes away.

For those who enjoy traveling, the Foundation Square lifestyle affords envied owners the ability to turn off the lights and leave for exciting destinations on a moments notice. You are a short drive to the sunny shores of North Carolina's Outer Banks, the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains or the big city life of Washington DC.

Williamsburg is a beautiful town with many unique places to enjoy from historical Colonial Williamsburg to athletic and cultural events at The College of William & Mary.  Here you can enjoy golf year round at one of the many championship caliber golf courses.  Visit living history in the historic triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown.  Go boating on the James River or spend your afternoon walking through the quaint shops on Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg's Merchants Square.

Located minutes from Foundation Square, is the College of William & Mary- the second oldest college in the nation.  William & Mary is a cutting edge research facility that provides a world-class education.  The Williamsburg community benefits richly from the College.  Attend an exciting Tribe football game or listen to a violinist at the Ewell Recital Hall.  If you wish to continue to study and learn after retirement, then The Christopher Wren Association is for you.  Sponsored by the College, the Christopher Wren Association draws people from a variety of backgrounds who share a common interest in continuing learning experiences. Members participate purely for the joy of learning and there are no tests or grades.  The Association provides an opportunity to greet old friends and make new ones.

The trolley buses will run from Merchants Square to New Town including stops at the Williamsburg Transportation Center and various places along Richmond Road and High Point Street.  “(The trolley) will not only help circulate people without adding additional parking strain or traffic, but it will also get people out to areas where they may not have gone in their car,” WAT Executive Director Mark Rickards said.  The trolley system, which aims to serve visitors and those traveling to and from the College of William and Mary campus, will operate on a shorter loop than the WAT bus routes, providing a quicker way to travel between some of the area’s most popular tourist stops. Two of the trolleys will run on the loop at any given time, and the other will be used as a backup.
